Kids Corner Lesson 4

HomeKids Corner Lesson 4

Scripture/Story Reading: Acts 8:26-39 (NIV)

LESSON LEARNED: When you start reading the Bible, read with someone who can help you answer your questions. This week you will learn that it’s good to ask or write down questions you have when reading the Bible. It is also good to identify someone you can ask to read the Bible with daily to discuss what you have read. In addition, sharing the gospel is simply spreading the good news of Jesus. This week, our lesson will also touch on how reading the Bible regularly will help you share the gospel with others who need to hear about Jesus.

MEMORY VERSE:

Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

SUMMARY:

When learning to snorkel or scuba dive, you usually don’t know how to begin. It helps to ask an instructor to teach you how. The same can be said of studying the Bible. The Ethiopian man read the Scripture but did not understand what he was reading, so he asked Philip to help explain it to him. When we read God’s word we should not be afraid to ask questions. We can ask God and we can ask wise people to help us understand God’s word better.

A SIMPLE PRAYER:

Dear God,

Help me to understand your Word. Help me to make it part of my everyday routine and give me wise teachers to help me understand the Bible and what I am reading.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

ACTIVITY OR CRAFT: PRINT OUT THE CRAFT WORKSHEET  and follow the instructions below.

The ‘Knowing, Growing, Going with God’ craft printable can be used as both a coloring sheet and a craft about The Great Commission.

Follow these instructions:

  1. COLOR THE SUITCASE AND THE ITEMS ON THE SHEET
  2. CUT AROUND EACH SHAPE, INCLUDING THE SUITCASE
  3. FOLD THE SUITCASE IN HALF
  4. USE A GLUE STICK INSIDE THE SIDES OF THE SUITCASE AND STICK THEM TOGETHER, LEAVING SPACE IN THE MIDDLE TO INSERT THE OTHER ITEMS.
  5. SLOT THE PAPER ITEMS INSIDE THE SUITCASE OPENING

Use this craft as a reminder that we can know, grow and go with God – and that may sometimes mean sharing the gospel in places we have never been before!
